Artist Note _ Rosie Park
Rosie Park is a Korean, self-taught artist currently based in Seoul. She moved to New Zealand in her early 20s. Living overseas with a highly stressful job for many years left her unhealthy and with a mind full of anxiety. She made the decision to finish her old career and began searching for what she really wanted to do in the creative space. Art came back to her during this time in her life and she started painting full time since 2022.
Rosie draws her inspiration from the deep connection she shares with nature, the rich tapestry of art history, and the beauty of the everyday things that surround her. Lately, her creative focus has been on crafting still-life pieces that capture serene scenes, blending the elements of nature and human craftsmanship. Each object that graces her work holds a sense of familiarity, yet Rosie tirelessly seeks ways to depict their unique essence and inherent beauty.
Her still-life artwork serves as a representation of reality interwoven with the magic of the moments of the past and present. She uses imagination forming images which she intends to be similar to how our memories weave in and out in an intentionally disorderly way. To Rosie, her creations serve as cherished mementos, capturing the essence of her truest self and the time she has spent expressing herself through art.
For Rosie, art is both a process of healing and a source of energy that keeps her going. She expects to present her paintings in Korea and internationally in the future.
