Lee Hu-sin
I always worried about whether I could draw pictures with sincerity. The first sketch that expresses the emotions I want to express. As I refined the sketch several times, I felt that although it might be visually complete, the emotional authenticity was blurred and it was fake.
I started to think a lot about how I could emphasize that, focusing on the fact that it wasn't as sincere as the first sketch. Simply leaving the sketch rough seemed to be unkind to communication, and trying to edit the sketch and make it more believable seemed like expressing a fake. It was very difficult to find that point of contact. Adding something is easy, but subtracting something is a difficult process.
The first sketch is closer to an image from my subconscious. I wondered if it would be a good idea to realistically envision the abstract lines I spit out, so I decided on the direction of my work. I wanted to leave the lines in the picture like that, dress them, add light and shadow, and bring my unconsciousness from the virtual world into the real world. I think it gives life to a spit-out sketch. Rather than a great message or philosophy, I try to express images that mix reality and fiction.
