Cho Kang Nam
I express the pure and honest emotions of the 21st century young generation through the muse called ‘Candy Girl’. It captures and expresses the beautiful appearances and moments of love of women from various cultures. The air in the painting, the hair and clothes fluttering in the wind, are symbolic expressions of a free and dynamic life and contain a strong message that one must throw off all the shackles and restraints of the world and live an independent life.
‘Candy Girl’ evokes positive memories of desire and love that modern people have forgotten due to being chased by dull daily life, and at the same time, it is a mocking expression of the authoritarian and dark things in the world. The colorful candy pop elements that surround ‘Candy Girl’ are the energy and driving force of life, and are expressed as a device of wit and humor to sublimate darkness into a positive thing. In this sense, realizing pure desire is the most noble thing, and I hope that everyone can live as intensely and vibrantly as the ‘Candy Girl’ in my painting. Life is a tragedy, but it is also sweet.
*Criticism
The face of love or brightly colored times -Criticism Noam Kim-
The meaning of life is that no one knows the meaning of life (Woody Allen).
We are never happy or full of love.
That is why we desire that direction. It's an unstoppable impulse.
I don’t want to just look at the back of my love’s head. I want to somehow hold on to the passing moment of love and look into that face and eyes.
Artist Cho Kang-nam's images are a world of images that still function without difficulty, and the health of capitalism and the joy and hope of city life are present.
What can save us is love. The audience faces the face of love in the hope of being able to stay in a pop world full of love and peace amidst the joys and sorrows of reality and the ups and downs of social relationships.
